PREMARITAL COUNSELING
Dr. Paul Standal has often felt that society does not provide the necessary education to couples contemplating a lifelong commitment to each other through marriage. We spend years educating ourselves but very little time understanding what goes into a successful marital relationship.
Dr. Standal aspires to the relationship credo to help or provide a foundation for his pre-marital counseling services. He helps his pre-marital clients prepare for this commitment by providing premarital and post wedding relationship assessment and a relationship and marital planning worksheet to address and share the goals and mutual expectations before the wedding and after in the first years of marriage. At the same time, he helps his clients understand and foster both positive and high-risk pre-marital relationship characteristics. As prospective spouses have delayed marriage, or are again entering into a marital commitment as older, mid-career professionals and second marriages, pre-marital issues for mature partners have become of special interest to Dr. Standal and are issues that are more commonly dealt with during pre-marital counseling sessions with his mature clients.
